Day 6 Pinterest Challenge: Pizza Rolls

Sunday nights at our house became family pizza and a movie night about 6 months ago.  Well, after six months, the same(ish) kind of pizza manages to get super boring, espeically when I suck at making pizza.  So, for our pizza night this past week, I decided to try a new twist in hopes it would turn out great.  I found this pin on pinterest and figured it would be a wonderful Tuesday post considering the simplicity.

Oh!  The best part about these?  You can put any pizza combination you want on them!

Pizza Rolls

Ingredients:

-1 loaf bread dough (I used this recipe.)

-Pizza toppings (We used pepperoni this time.)

-1 lb block Mozzerella cheese  (If you like different cheeses on your pizza, feel free to switch this too)

-Parmesan Cheese  (You will just need enough to lightly sprinkle all over the pizza.  I think I used about 1/4 c.)

-Seasonings (I used oregano, garlic, and basil.)

-Marinara Sauce

Directions:

Step 1:

Prepare bread dough.  If you use a frozen dough, let it thaw and rise just a little bit.  If you use my recipe, let it rise until doubled the first time.

Step 2:

Now, preheat oven to 350 F.  Once it has risen, roll the dough out as thin as you can.  Then, top with pizza toppings, cheese, and seasonings.  Roll up longways.  Or shortways if you like thicker rolls.

Step 3:

If you cut it long ways, slice in half and place the two logs on the pan.  Otherwise just place on pan.  These are quite filling, so if you aren't going to eat the leftovers and are feeding four or less people, you could throw half of the large long ways log into the freezer.  Just wrap in seran wrap and enjoy at a later time. (When I figure out the best way to thaw and cook, I'll tell y'all!)

If you like thin crust, throw it in the oven.  If you like a medium crust, let it rise a little.  Keep an eye on it though, because you don't want it to get too fluffy.  If you like a thicker crust, let rise longer.  You get it, right?

Step 4:

Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Note:  The original recipe suggested pouring butter on top before baking.  I didn't.

Step 5:

Cut into bite size roll slivers (like you would cut a pumpkin roll) and serve with marinara dipping sauce!

All the best and happy cooking!
